One of the most rewarding parts about being a photographer is the people you meet and get to capture over and over on their life’s journey. Jackie and Ray are some of those people. I had photographed their wedding in LA a few years ago and now had the opportunity to return to that city to capture their sons baptism. I knew this wasn’t going to be any traditional baptism , not when it came to these two. Their wedding itself was something I’ll never forget. Gigantic, luxurious, colorful and unique, a million-dollar affair that made everyone stop on their photos when looking through my portfolio. These two know how to throw a party so it was a no brainer to head back to LA for a few days and capture this event.
The ceremony was held at Saint Timothy’s Cathedral in LA. This was my first introduction to Jack who was one of the cutest little humans on earth. Not a single tear or whine came out of that little boy the entire time, even when holy water was being poured on his head. Instead he stared straight deep into my camera, already ready for his Hollywood close up.
After the ceremony we headed to the Grand Caesar Banquet Hall for the reception. The tables were adorned with giant white roses, bedazzled dinner plates with gold rim, yummy hummus, veggies, meats and caviar. The cake itself was an art piece, created by the incredible Roobinas Cakes who had also done their wedding cake. I noticed it was a little mini vendor reunion as almost all the same wedding vendors were also at this baptism, right down to the same belly dancers that made their grand entrance with Jack on his chariot. They even brought back the famous Syrian singer Samara AL Samara who blew me away at their wedding with his unique and haunting voice.
Jack was raised high in the air on his chariot with loud drumming bouncing off the walls and the dancers twirling with golden capes in unison. The excitement couldn’t have been awarded to a more well behaved boy. Thanks again for the opportunity to photograph such a beautiful event Jackie and Ray so happy for you and your growing family!
